The first impression as you walk in is WOW.

It is the sense of space, the light, the room.

You immediately feel like you have to dash to the other rooms as there is so much to take in – 3 bedrooms, two bathrooms, a conservatory, and the huge kitchen, dining lounge area.

The furnishings are all big. A full size dining suite, a large couch and 2 chairs, wall cabinet, sideboard.

This isn’t the downsizing I was afraid of.

The stud height (2.6m I am told) adds to the sense of space. And there is so much light. No living in a pokey apartment here.

Now the brain takes over from the sheer enjoyment and excitement at seeing somewhere at last that I can see myself living in.

What about the kitchen.

Well it is full size too – in fact bigger than the one I have now. Lovely self closing drawers and cupboards. Lots of cupboards. I can have my favourite things. And power points too. 6 power points on the bench plus more in the cupboards for kitchen gadgets, microwave and other things I haven’t thought of yet. The fridge space is designed for a slimline fridge. I need a new one and am told that Samsung, Fisher and Paykel, Haier, Mitsubishi and Panasonic all make fridges to fit with all sorts of features. Yep I can live here I think.

But bedroom sizes are often the catch. But hello, this one takes a king bed comfortably or 2 king singles, plus room for a cabinet or drawers. TV goes on the wall apparently but that doesn’t worry me. A walk in robe that can be personalised to our needs and room for drawers in there as well. There is actually plenty of room. Maybe winter coats and stuff in the 3rd bedroom wardrobe.

And through to the en suite. A walk in shower, lovely vanity and good lighting. Even a wall mounted heater for cold mornings. A big towel rack. No compromises there.

The second bedroom is just as big and guests will use the second bathroom which again is roomy and has everything in it.

A separate laundry and hot water cupboard. Brilliant!

Now for the crunch. Could I really live here.

The answer is YES. I actually love it. Heart and head agree. It is what we have been looking for without the compromises. Price is in the budget and being at the beach in Orewa. That seals it.
